MJ's little flock

I did a quick web search for Australorp aggressiveness and found many articles that said they're not aggressive and none saying they are aggressive.

I still think each flock has its own dynamics and that age plays a role. It'll be interesting to see if the new Australorp does her share of pecking in a couple of years' time when, all being well, I'll do the next expansion.
She did rain fire and brimstone down on a large huntsman once though. 😂

thank you Lozzy! Fingers crossed they're healthy and not carrying anything.

Bernadette the Marans is doing all the pecking so far, usually from her station at the water dispenser. I've added a second water dispenser because I was worried the other two might not be getting enough to drink!
That's a really good idea

Nap time.

I'm pleased to see the Brahma using the sawhorse. She slept on the floor last night.

I've just come in after doing the quarantine coop and those pullets drank *half* the polypipe water, which is 1.5 litres consumed. That's a lot for 3 little ones. Even on hot days I have never known 1.5 litres to go in a day. I wonder if they were thirsty when they arrived (seems most likely) or if they simply like the flavour of mains water (seems less likely because we all know chickens prefer spicy rain water). Two thirds of the pullet pellets were gone, a quarter of the crumble, and a little of the layer pellets. Of course, they were obliged to be petted, poor darlings.
