Yeh, it's nasty. I wish it were cool enough for me to feel ok about putting the chicks out. Low 30s would do.

I'm so sorry to hear of Blossom's difficulties. Hopefully it's nothing more serious than the murmur.

Thanks Bob. I'm waiting on the test results. Iirc, it was the P4T test, but I may have that all wrong. Hope she's not in pain. She doesn't seem to be. I don't relish the thought of daily struggles over medication. She'll hate it and me. Hopefully she will find the medication tasty. If she hates it and she's not in pain, I'd rather she simply slowed down to the end.

That's a great idea! I must look for one of those for the next time I brood chicks.

Yeh! I'm pleased it came to mind! With four 3 week old chicks, it runs out in 6 hours or thereabouts. A few more would mean less frequent re-fills.

I've been using it for a week and no poop has landed in it. Twice it has caught a wood shaving. But the chicks have not been in cramped spaces. If they were more tightly confined, I'd expect more water changes.

Another detail: the chicks love the caged bird water container. It's their preferred water dispenser. I like it too because it's too small and high a target for catching debris so it stays cleaner for longer. I've ordered another two.

I've been looking at these for the coop.

I wonder if they come in larger sizes. I had a little trouble finding the one little one at the shops. They used to be in every supermarket but not any more.
