Their healthcare provision is amazing! Very high taxes in Sweden, very good social services.

And a very high suicide rate. I've never worked that one out. I admire a lot about Sweden but not their attitude to homeschooling & not their suicide rate.

Perhaps. I have heard it sprooked that the lack of incentive due to a very socialistic way of life is a contributing factor but have seen no evidence to support this.

I know some swedes and they and their friends are hardworking I'm sure there's data on it, but it's outside my field and I haven't time to look it up. Someday I'll ask a librarian to get it for me.

Hmmm I wonder if your knowledge on suicide rate in Sweden might be out of date. Wikipedia says it's below the oecd average but it used to be high.

I think there are a number of factors that have and will influence the eventual outcome of Covid-19.
The Swedes trust their politicians broadly speaking and they get a more competent selection. They also have a first class well funded health care system.
Cuba is also very interesting but of course not well reported.
New Zealand has been a good example of a competant and well liked politician going for early lockdown rather then prevaricating and it looks like it has worked.
Despite the adverse press China can and did adopt a strategy and because of the nature of China's social and political structure, were able to make a full lockdown work.
The virus isn't any worse in the UK, Spain, Italy and the USA; you can't say the same for the politicians or the state of the health services.

Yes! I too am interested to see how Sweden comes out of this. They took a less hysterical approach than just about anywhere & so far seem to have done well.

The early results are very promising.

I tried for more chicken selfies tonight. Ivy obligingly tapped the shutter button twice but I guess it's not good at recognising the tap of a beak as no photos were taken despite her stirling efforts.

So here's one I took of Janet eating pellets with Peggy nearby.

Lack of sunlight and suicide. There is a correlation between those two things.
