Here is Alice today. She is looking more mature since her new feathers came in. She and Ed are 15 months old now.How is Alice going? Have all her feathers opened? Charlie’s pin feathers are still coming through.
It was. I hope she never has one that bad again. Especially just as winter is starting!I still feel sorry for herit was a brutal moult.
Definitely keep these pics for next year's contest. Here's a comparison of Alice's moult
31st March
Not much in the way of moulting. Only a bald patch from feather pecking (hence the pink spray on the tail)

7th April. This was a few days after she dropped the first couple of feathers. Then the rest fell off overnight!View attachment 2153401

So though it felt like forever while it was happening it only took about 20 days to go from mostly bald to almost completely covered again even though there were still pin feathers opening up for a while.

I was thinking of doing an article on Alice's moult since it was such a hard one. Both for my own edification and for anyone who might want to know how long a moult takes and how feathers grow.Definitely keep these pics for next year's contest.

Writing it is tempting fate for sure. Not to tempt fate, but it's been weeks since Ivy hopped the fence too.
Although now I've written it in a public post, I expect her to hop the fence later today, haha!
