Oh dear, my intention did not come across in my words. I was valuing their emotional experience not judging them for it. Poor little hens, it was a very big deal. In future I'm going to see if the vet can visit them at home.

They are from the same hatch but Deana is much more laid back. Tsuki never bullies Deana.
Tsuki will frantically chase everyone else away from any resources (food and water) but Deana can just casually stroll in and eat what she wants and Tsuki will back down and make room for her. I have my suspicions that Deana is actually the top hen.

Two things may be at play here. Were any other hens part of the same hatch as Tsuki and Deana? Many times hens will share reasources with their "sisters".

The other may also be true and Deana may actually be number 1 and Tsuki may be number 2. Patsy was nasty like that while Daisy, the greatest hen ever, was actually number 1.

Yes Bob, I had 3 hens from that hatch. Tsuki, Deana and Zen, an Australorpe. I lost her last year. Didn't realize she was egg bound until too late which is why I'm paranoid now and want all my girls to lay different colours

Egg binding is a terrible thing. I lost Trisha to it and we started trying to help her immediately. @Kris5902 apparently is exceptional at helping egg bound hens. That includes making homemade slings of a sort.
