Are not those spots in western Australia ports?

Also, data can only come from formally recorded sightings and ports are places where you will have enough human population for someone to take an interest in formally recording wildlife sightings. Most of the continent is uninhabited, hence sightings are fewer.

At a glance, and without double checking, it looks like Perth and Broome and Darwin in the north.

You are getting some wonderful pictures of them. I think this one is definitely picture of the month or calendar worthy. Makes me want to settle in and nap with them (and I only just woke up!).
