I've used the alfoil and carb soda method before but my results weren't as good as yours.
Thank you very much! I will give the MJ method a try.

I hope it works for you but a lot depends on how much abrasion the silver plate has suffered in the past. Sometimes the base metal is exposed and there's nothing you can do about that other than having it re-plated.

Honestly, it's a little stressful. I've taken on a lot of extra work to support a colleague in getting her doctorate done (she won't make the deadline, she's too pedantic and doesn't take suggestions well). So I'm treading water until Christmas.
