MJ's little flock

Honestly, it's a little stressful. I've taken on a lot of extra work to support a colleague in getting her doctorate done (she won't make the deadline, she's too pedantic and doesn't take suggestions well). So I'm treading water until Christmas.

I understand better why your taking January off now ! Your going to be worn out, everyone has a point when they just have to stop :hugs. Its so very nice for you to help her, but you will need a real break.

We have a month's paid holiday each year packaged in. It can accumulate to eight weeks but after that it's use it or lose it. And there's a lot of nagging about taking your holiday. I've said I'll check my email Jan 10 in case there are any urgent tasks but otherwise I'll be doing holiday things. The other thing is, when we resign or retire, the accumulated holiday gets converted to money and we're paid out. I once knew someone who had so much holiday accrued, it was almost two years' salary when he left and it paid off his mortgage. That was in the days before the use it or lose it rule.

It's all in the remuneration package. The money is not so good, but the other conditions make up for it.

All four hens in one photo!

That's unfortunate.
