They're still not 100% perfect, but they're on the way.
And here's a bonus shot of the jug in the bath. The water is not black, the alfoil is. I had to shape some alfoil to fit around the jug under the spout, that's why it looks a little funny in that area. The handle is fully submerged.

Ah! Well, a container deep enough to submerge the item is needed, so I usually use a mop bucket. Then I line it with alfoil and start boiling water. Once there's enough steamy water in the bucket to fully submerge whatever I'm cleaning, I put it in then I liberally add bicarb soda, which ought to start fizzing. Then I leave it for a while before fishing the item out with tongs and dipping it into a sink of cold water for a rinse, then I buff it up with a tea towel. Sometimes a second bath is necessary. Sometimes a stubborn spot of tarnish needs a special alfoil jacket like you can see in the pictureOMG it's like day and night!
Thanks for the before and after MJ and especially the soaking picture. I was wondering about your arrangement when soaking.
Thank you! That's very kind. I think it could use a little cropping but their silhouettes are lovelyAnother fantastic picture. Go for a whole calendar!
It's a very good technique for removing tarnish from silver plate because you don't have to use an abrasive. Silver polish usually contains an abrasive which is ok for solid silver but not for plated because it eventually scratches the silver off.Good evening MJ and everyone
It was a pretty good day, I got a lot of house stuff done.
