I wonder what the leave entitlements are like in America? When I worked in the UK I got five weeks annual leave, which was pretty good! And I only recently learned that long service leave is an Australian thing!

There is no annual leave in America. It's all to the discretions of the employer. I personally have 12 days per year I can use for vacation, sick, and personal time, that's it.

That's not much. I think the standard here is 4 weeks annual leave. Sick leave is separate & usually can be accumulated & averages @ about 2 weeks annually ~ or it used to. It's been a while since I've been in a traditional work environment. And then there's long service leave, which you get after 10 years, which is when lots of people I knew did their European tour.
