MJ's little flock

Even our volunteer firies are very experienced, Bob. Though they are saying this is the worst they've ever experienced they are doing a marvelous job of keeping people safe & saving properties. They are acting early to keep people safe. They are moving 30,000 out of Victoria's Gippsland just now, before fire closes the roads. What they can't defend will just be left to burn itself out. Only thing to do as so much terrain is inaccessible.

I agree with Bob, I find it all very frightening. Probably made worse because nothing even remotely like this occurs where I live. Everyone please stay safe.

Sadly this is our normal. This is a particularly bad fire season & we have lost 3 firemen & 2 fire trucks that I know of because the conditions are particularly awful but sooner or later it will end. Most people who lose property will rebuild & most of us are sensible enough to carry fire insurance. One of the problems is the high oil content in eculypt leaves & as the country is full of eculypt there is nothing we can do about that!

Folks, just be safe. This scares me to death.
There's very little reason to be scared.

Given the risk, the loss of life is minimal and the injuries are few.

Australians are highly competent in bushfires, even folks who aren't trained fire fighters are very well-prepared and know how to keep themselves safe - most leave early, some stay and defend their homes. But everyone knows what to do and most of them do it.

That said, there are things about American culture that I find very frightening, so I get where you're coming from.

I can guess what you might find frightening. ;)
