MJ's little flock

Good morning folks :frow

@LozzyR I'm uncertain how widespread your factory farms are, but you folks have a really strong showing in the pasture raised (aka permaculture) regenerative egg production and you guys invented the best mobile coop (chicken caravan) on the market today.

Thanks Bob, maybe there’s hope for us yet! :fl

I actually have high hopes on the caged egg front. The state of California has banned the sale of eggs from caged hens. I am hoping that other states will soon follow suit.

I believe I am personally having an effect on some people. They are shocked when I tell them the living conditions. Around here it's $1 more a dozen for cage free eggs. Not a lot to ask for hens to have a life of some kind.
It's around four Euros per half a dozen free range eggs here. I don't know what the egg classification is for supermarket eggs here is. The free range eggs get sold in the fruit and veg shops and being a small community people know who supplies the shop so they know about how the chickens are kept.
So many people keep chickens here I'm surprised that there is a market for eggs at all.

That’s awesome, go California! :thumbsup A former prime minister once eloquently described Australia as being at “the a*** end of the world” so we will probably be last to follow suit. :he
From what I've read, Australia is ahead of a lot of countries regarding animal welfare.

I was asked on another thread if I could post some pictures of the types of houses found here. The four below are urbanish houses and all keep chickens free range. There is one picture where the chickens are in a run. I think they are in there because he's recently planted. Usually when I go past they are out and about.

The rooster by the side of the house is apparently 12 years old. He attacks his keeper on a regular basis I'm told.
