MJ's little flock

We're in winter at present and it's a relief to not worry about hydration.

I found Mary drinks more when the water is fresh, so in summer I empty and refill the water dispensers every day. If you're not doing that, you could give it a try and see what happens. Also, if they're earing ice, maybe they won't feel thirsty?
Thanks that is a good tip - I will try changing all the water containers in the morning, though from observation they seem to prefer icky muddy water but I will definitely give it a go.
And yes, I am hoping they are eating enough ice, but it is hard to tell because of course it melts while they chip away at it and then they get to the cucumbers and chow down on those (lots of water in those too of course).
I won't fret too much as they seem very active and busy. The new game is 'chase the little one' which looks way too energetic to me in these temperatures!

It's just gone 8am in Adelaide and I'm having some morning chicken time while the ladies intimidate poor Blossom. I caught a couple of snaps to show how the crisis unfolded.

Mary says don't you come too close to young Ivy.
Blossom says hissssss

Mary says good, crisis averted.
Blossom says I'm outta here! That big hen is scary!!
People are always asking me "don't the cats kill the chickens?". Chickens are very intimidating and "scaredy cats" stand no chance. 😆

What are all the bricks for @MaryJanet ?

Just watch for them to get lethargic. That's how I knew Hattie was in trouble. They will drink enough on their own. You need to trust them.

Cold watermelon helps with their fluids too.

The day before yesterday Google locked me out of my email account.:mad::mad:
The lock out was all about security issues with my account. Apparently they can no longer be sure it's me logging into my account with the same ISP, same browser, same operating system, correct password, without having my phone number as well!
This is of course complete bollocks!!
I don't have a phone! Even if I did, I wouldn't give them my number on principle. The really idiotic thing is, is peoples email accounts rarely get hacked on their computer; the hacking is done at the server end and that's Google's security issue, not mine.
Luckily, I have a desktop client so all my emails are on my hard drive. Imagine if they were stuck on Google's data base.
I further irritant not just to Google but other service providers like Utube etc is that I run a Linux operating system with all bar one port closed. They tell me yet again that there are security issues but it would be hard to find a more secure system.
