The trouble is I don't know where to start when they make nests out there. There are about 2 acres to search per tribe. Lots and lots of places you could be within inches of a nest and not see it.What an environment for them. My hens wouldn't know where to start if they found themselves in such meadows!
I think he's the best looking rooster here. He's not the best behaved though. It feels like a while since I've seen Punch. He's quite a looker! I love that this picture of him.![]()

Not really. Treacle is lovely but as a rooster he has a bit of a way to go yet. Best rooster currently is Notch regarding attentiveness to his hens. He's also very good with me now. This took a lot of work. As a young rooster he was a complete pain in the arse, for me and all the other males.Would that be Treacle? When he’s not fighting with his dad?
Some would say that good looking males are rarely well behaved.I think he's the best looking rooster here. He's not the best behaved though.
Very hard work. I like your "follow the hen" technique but even that's not easy. The trouble is I don't know where to start when they make nests out there. There are about 2 acres to search per tribe. Lots and lots of places you could be within inches of a nest and not see it.
That's interesting. I wonder what's going on.This was interesting to watch.
Punch, Nolai and Hinge, the rest are not far away.

Knock arrives. The bantam hens, except maybe Nolia if pushed won't take on Knock. That's the unnamed cockerel moving in between. Mag came along shortly after and chase Knock away.View attachment 2287563
