Obeying her avian masters
Definitely. We are all born selfish, some people just never develop past toddler stage.I think being unselfish is learned behavior. It isn’t inborn.

I may have paid the fodder store to release Peggy, but I can tell you no one owns that little feathered rocket. The other three call me friend though. It used to be a favourite topic here when Harold was alive. I distinctly remember trying to explain the concept of ownership through purchase to him. He thought it was crazy.![]()
Good morning! How are you today?Good morning folks![]()
It was quite a night. It was dark and rainy but surprisingly warmish.
First, I went out after dark to put move Ivy from the nest to the roost (4th night in a row). She's less broody now but still inclined to get on the nest at bedtime.
Second, I gave Mary a bath. I didn't want to but her poop pile up was becoming a problem. I don't need to tell anyone what a palaver that is. This time I used a towel over her, even her head, and I bathed her in the laundry sink in quite warm but not hot water. Several poo clods were removed and I was able to see her vent, which was healthy, phew! For drying, I removed the towel and she was surpringly confident. I stood her on a fresh towel and blowdried her until she said "I can't do this any more please!" then I put her back on the nest, thinking the straw would absorb what remained of the water, which it did.
At 2am I thought she might be too cold, so I got out of bed and put Janet on one side of her and Ivy on the other to make a cuddle puddle for the rest of the night.
At 4, blossom woke me up because she was having a vomit.
I'm going to need quite a nap this afternoon.
Anyway, here's mary from 5 minutes ago, having some mash for breakfast. I like to put a bowl between my feet for the broodies because it keeps Peggy from picking on them. You can see she hasn't yet seen to her tail feathers after her bath
