MJ's little flock

Good morning :frow it's day 2 of "Surprise! You're on staycation!" and it's been very restful so far. My one excursion away from home today will be to the supermarket and I'll mask up for it. How are you?

Doing okay on my very lazy day 🙄 some days I'm fine and others I just about go crazy. Saturday is my day away from the house and I enjoy it a lot !!

Peggy is still doing well with her clavulox on cheese! Her follow up appointment is Thursday morning.

The new pellet-only diet with milk thistle, bioton, and choline supplements added in is starting to take off. Mary loves it. Ivy and Janet tuck in to the mash format before bed and Peggy nibbles disdainfully. I put a mini bale of lucerne hay in their yard for additional forage while we go through this dietary transition.

I'm going to take a sample of their prior food (Laucke's Se17enteen) to show Mark because if he says it's ok, they might as well go back on it. And perhaps Peggy was eating from it selectively and getting all the fattiest grains or something like that. I'm really struggling to see how her liver crashed when the main treats were meal worms and cheese added sparingly to mashes.
Meal worms are very high in fat content. Hard cheeses tend to be as well. There is of course fat and fat. You should be able to find a breakdown on the Internet.

Not yet MJ. Lock still has a way to go and Rivit has a very small problem that I hope I can nip in the bud. It seems that some of Tribe 2 are very prone to picking them up, or have something in their genes that means they are affected more than the others.
Mag's legs are good now. Hardly any fussiness along at the spur ends and very few raised scales. It's just one of those things that needs regular attention.
Poor Lock. It must be extremely uncomfortable. I hope you can stamp out Rivit's mites :fl

I suppose that goes for both live and dried mealworms. I really was sparing though, eg 5 give or take per hen.

And I'm giving her a pinch of cheese, eg 5 or so strands of grated cheese.
