When Peggy's having a "not grumpy" phase, they buddy up and recently they've been very close and sweet to each other. They chatted a lot in the car last week.

Maybe chicken friendships are more fluid than we think?

Here's an interesting thing.

I had to assert my authority over Peggy a couple of days ago, by which I mean, I caught her, held her gently, and released her into the funrun with her chums.

Ever since, she's been deferent towards me. Standing beside me but not attracting my attention. Doing as I ask. Etc. I'm loving the new deferent Pegsy.

She'd been cheeky that morning and refused to follow her friends into the funrun. It's ok for her to be a free ranger while I'm home to oversee but after a few hours, I had to go to a meeting and the usual persuasions had failed to entice her into the relatively safer funrun. So I had to manhandle her. There was no other way.
