Someone in the neighbourhood has a new rooster. That makes two altogether: the quiet one down the street and the noisy one up the street (I daresay it won't be long before someone lodges a formal noise complaint as he crows frequently) and I think it's helping the hens to relax because they've not been so pecky. Maybe the crowing is encouraging the laying too.

There is a rooster who lives no less than a quarter of a mile down the road, but every morning I can hear him loud and clear. I like hearing him, but I’m glad he isn’t in my yard. Lol.

I love hearing the roosters crowing! It makes me happy But I would make a bet that someone in the vicinity is angry about it. A shift worker perhaps? Or someone whose baby can't sleep? It's a suburb, and we try to respect one another but getting a rooster may well be asking for more tolerance from some folks can provide.
