They seem to be doing ok. Tegan has stopped being broody and River appears to be responding to treatment. Thanks for asking!

I think she had her hard moult last winter.

This is a nice thought! I wonder how many other recipes are linked to the seasons.

My guess a lot. All the Fall recipes in the US using pumpkin for example and butternut squash.
Roast lamb and garden peas as an Easter thing in the UK.
All those heavy dried fruit things in the middle of winter.

I am trying to tell all your red ones apart. The one in the foreground not molting has a distinct white tail. Does she have a name yet?

I agree. It took me a while to get it but it definitely helps. My only problem is that there is enough room for even a half asleep chicken to walk off down the roost as I approach.

No, not yet. One of the problems I have is until they finish moulting I won't really know what they look like.
