MJ's little flock

Taking a moment during lunch to say Janet's beak trim went well. Her top beak is now the same size as her lower beak.

Dr Mark held her head, looked carefully, looked again, then used his proper vet snippers on it. It was over in moments. He thought anaesthesia was disproportionate to the problem. Fair enough, he knows more about beaks than I do.

Since then, Jan has been relearning her beak.

The first day she was using the angled approach she developed when her beak was overgrown, and taking a long time to pick up a pellet. The second day she dropped the angled approach but she was taking a few attempts before getting close enough to pick anything up. Today is her third day and when I threw down a pellet for her this morning, she picked it up with normal dexterity.

On the whole, I'd say it was a successful intervention.

That is great news - and I am not surprised it takes a day or so to get used to it. Clever girl!

Was the outcome of the referendum a surprise? Or was it what was predicted?
It was predicted.

Personally, I'm disappointed. But you can't have democracy without the tyranny of the masses.

Where I live there's already an Aboriginal Voice to state parliament. Maybe the other states will follow? Maybe we'll achieve a Voice in federal government by legislation? The trouble is legislation can be repealed and more readily amended than the constitution, but perhaps legislation is the best option now the referendum has failed.

I think so too. Proprioception is so embodied. But she's using her little noggin and improving day by day.

I've been separating her for special meals since I noticed her beak was awry - I didn't mention it because people often assume instruction is necessary and it irks me when I'm already doing everything by the book.

If she handles food well today, it'll be the last time she eats separately from her friends. I think rejoining her friends will improve her enthusiasm for gobbling her food, they're such gobblers!!

It is incredibly disappointing. The fact we now have this as apart of our country's history is so sad.
It's yet another crap chapter.

While there weren't enough people who share our view to get the constitution amended, there are millions of us. I'm focussing on that and will be changing two minds every year henceforth. If we all do that, change will come.

Stay strong @Somewhere_In_The_Clouds and stay digniified. Stay true. Stay authentic.

You too @LozzyR
