Here animal by products are not allowed in public composts. I think the main reason is to avoid rats, and other bigger animals that could try to get in there.
We don't generally put animal by products in composts even on private properties. I'm surprised to learn it's different elsewhere !

I have always composted animal by-products whether that is left overs from human or cat food, or dead critters that one finds around and about.
Bones take for forever to break down so my compost always has bones in it.

That's an option among several available to me in Adelaide. For now I'll continue burying but at some point, that'll have to stop. Hopefully before then I'll have come to a decision on what option to take.

Phyllis passed away in the early morning hours of July 5th. It was very sad.

She was enjoying some chick food here on the 4th.

Interestingly enough, the next day, 7/6 little Versace hatched out.

We have bins that close well (cat /rat proof) and are emptied every two or three weeks by a company that collects garbage from the streets. Depending on the type of garbage.

Paper/carboard with blue lid. Black with orange sticker or orange lid for plastics, cans and juice cartons. Green with dark grey lid for unsorted litter. The one for compost looks the same (all green). Each village has its own color system and it’s not allowed to drop anything in other bins or bags.

We put the bins on the street in the evening, before they collect them and pick them up again the next day.

We have 3 of this type of bin too, with slightly different classification: landfill (blue), recycling (yellow), composting (green). All food waste goes into the composting bin, meat scraps, veg scraps, bread scraps, etc, and it's taken away fortnightly by the big compost collection truck. Recycling means glass, paper, cardboard, tins, plastics, etc and is also collected fortnightly, alternating with the compost collection. The landfill bin gets anything else (not much at all) but it's emptied every week.
