MJ's little flock

How is she getting along MJ?
Pretty good. She's getting her weight back up. Eating regularly and sitting down a lot seems to be having the effect we would expect. She's also no longer being singled out by Peggy for special "attention" so that's good to see. No fights at bedtime is how I like it.

It's a week later and I continue to hold the view that I made the right choice in attempting an adoption once the hatch had failed. I would move heaven and earth for Mary. She is such a wonderful hen.

I found answering people online mostly exhausting and time-consuming, and by far the worst part of the process. Especially when it descended into insulting and offensive territory, like when advice comes in the format of instruction or exhortation (and it was always to superciliously inform me to do something I was already doing), or when my character came under discussion. So many egregious assumptions were made. I'm not made of time.

So I won't be sharing the next hatch in a public format. It'll be trusted old friends who already know something of the hens' environment and back story, not to mention my own character. People who know the context so thoroughly, they have no cause for assumptions. People who spread more cheer than presumption or assumption.
This is a bit of a shame MJ although I understand your reaction.

Oh… was that happening on your thread MJ? Or were you posting to other threads as well?

I'm probably overreacting, but almost every word of advice was something I had either learned through reading four years ago before Ivy's hatch, or during Mary's first hatch. Granted, both of those went wrong, so I still consider myself a beginner but perhaps that's too humble a positioning. When I was asked if I was usually negative and when I was obliged to remind people that I have a life outside of byc that involves family, friends, and joyfulness is remembered in a very dark light. My character has nothing to do with an egg's fertility.

All the same, I just can't be bothered with a crowd again. It'll be yourself and a handful of others.

Oh no MJ. I really hope that wasn’t me. And if it was, I am so very sorry.
