MJ's little flock

Several months ago, I bought some eggs for Mary to hatch. It didn't work out, but that's beside the point.

It turns out the same small business I got her eggs from also offers vaccinated chicks from some of the sex-linked breeds.

Good to know for the 2026-27 summer expansion, when I'll be thinking of vaccinated tiny pullets.

Well that is good to know!

Yes! I was worried I'd have to take on chicks from the laying industry hatcheries, which wasn't something I was at ease with. I'm sure the chicks would have been lovely, if prone to over-laying and reproductive health disorders as hens, but I'd rather not support that industry. Learning there's an alternative in the form of a small, family-run business doing its utmost to provide for local backyard chicken keepers is a relief, and I'll take as much relief as I can get at this troubled time.

I received good news about Blossom the cat today. Her blood test results came back and she's doing very well indeed! No interventions needed, except for a dental clean up.

Hoping hoping hoping for good news about Sarah any day now 🤞 :fl
