MJ's little flock

It's a non-profit. I have already considered reaching out to the board and I may do so. I'll be very observant of the welcome I'm given when I go to pick up her ashes.
I’m sorry you had such a bad experience. I’d reach out to the board and also leave a Google review. You could mention you had previously received excellent service and that something needs to be done to get back to that state. :hugs

Vale Mary. What a privilege to have been your friend.
I was very taken with her from the first! ❤️ Her beautiful shape was very matronly and I loved her big dark eyes. Rest in peace, Mary. Hugs for you all :hugs

8 lb bag, which is pretty large as the contents are so lightweight, regular retail US $25.
@MaryJanet if you're interested in hemp, look for somewhere that sells it in bales.

It has qualities that work great in nestboxes - it packs firmly and shapes nicely into a bowl. Better if the underlying box material isn't slippery but it still works, you just make it deep. In my plastic coop I now lay down silicone nest pads first which it grips to very well. So it can be more shallow, saving hemp.

It is very absorbent and sort of clumps. I have to remind myself to change out the hemp every so often because it is so easy to sift through to remove anything and what remains lasts a long time in great shape.

Nutty expensive when compared to pine shavings however. But @Mother of Chaos you can buy it at a better price per pound. US$30 (before shipping) for 30 lbs / 13.6kg, 285 liters. It's a big bale, comparable to the pine shavings bales. Unless one lives near where it is packaged and can buy it retail there, shipping adds greatly to the cost, almost 100%. This outfit in Virginia is the most cost-effective that I've found, even with shipping added. They charge another US$25 so the 30lb bale costs US$55 in total.

I moved on from considering hemp. No doubt you noticed my focus switched to woodshavings in a later post. To save you wasting your time on a Google search for woodshavings, I've already decided where to get them (the usual place - I've bought woodshavings before now).

That sounds like it's in the US. That's a very long way from home. It wouldn't be practical for me to buy anything in the US if I can buy it locally and save on unnecessary shipping costs and time.

I’m in the next state to VA, and even then I balk at paying shipping, especially so bulky yet light-weight.
