In other news, I'll be picking up 4 chicks on January 3. I've requested a cream legbar, a welsummer, an easter egger, and a bantam orpington because 4 is the minimum order and these are the breeds they can most reliably sex. I'm hopeful of not having the responsibility of rehoming a cockerel next year. This breeder vaccinates for Marek's. I'll keep them in an indoor brooder until they're old enough for their vaccinations to have become fully systemic. I'm tempted to go full on "crazy chook lady" and set up the brooder in the kitchen for hours of delightful chick watching. But I suppose that wouldn't be hygienic

I'm going to try puppy training pads in the brooder this time around.
