So lovely to hear from you MJ.Hello byc friends. It's been a while since you've seen the chicks.
They appear to be thriving.
It's been quite a long road since my brother died and there is still a lot of bereavement and admin ahead. Practical tasks too. But I'll get through it all eventually. There's no rush.
I'm doing ok but not great. It was a huge shock. I've slowly come to realise I've been transformed by it all and I'll no longer be the same person I was. My priorities have shifted.
I'm so grateful to all of you for your kind messages of support and wisdom. It's remarkable that so much solace can be received from people never met in person.
I'll try to take up my former byc habits again. I'm very far behind on what's going on with your flocks and I'm looking forward to catching up on the chicken news.
I do understand. Thank you for sharing kindness.Wow, the chicks have grown a lot!
I lost a sister long time ago. It has been the most difficult loss in my life and I can imagine this life event make a huge change for you too. Hope you manage to settle and find peace with yourself and the people around you.
Probably not the best words. With these kind of writings my English as second language is just not good/perfect enough. But Im sure you understand what I intend to say.
Thank you RC and thank you for the card you sent, it was a very welcome dose of thoughtfulness. So lovely to hear from you MJ.
The ‘chicks’ are just glorious. And I love a good preening session - so relaxing!
I don’t really have anything helpful to say. Loss transforms us for sure and that you recognize that is probably a really good start on finding your new normal.
I hope we, as your BYC friends, will be able to stay as part of your new normal.
But more important is to take time for yourself. Finding solid ground after a loss like you gave experienced can take a long time. We are here for you if you need us.
They're very sweet and still sit on my lap even though they're almost too big for their own comfort. What a lovely group they are![]()
Thanks for the update. I'm glad all the ladies and blossom are doing well.Thank you all. I appreciate your kind words.
I'm still keeping very busy with various tasks required when someone dies. This week I've been packing his belongings and transferring the right of interment for the family gravesites from my brother's name to mine. Both very heavy-hearted tasks.
All the hens and pullets are doing well, and blossom has a follow up blood test to see if her thyroid medication is effective. Other than that she's doing well too.
