Aww it always amazes me how these sweet babies have to work so hard to be born! I bet you will wake up tomorrow to some cuties!

All babies have to work hard to be born. Human birth is more difficult (physically stressful) and painful for the baby than it is for the mother!!!

Vent gleet is a really disgusting yeast infection, its really nasty.

My rooster doesn't crow that much. More since he lost his junior roo, but not very much.
When he does, we say In case you forgot, Eddie's in charge.

Yes, but very naughty. I am hoping Bronco isn't to much of a jerk, otherwise he is going to the auction like his father. Actually, he probably will go to the auction anyway because I am wanting to start breeding show quality Salmon Faverolles and whatever other breeds I get, not Hatchery Barred rocks.

The bunny in the tea cup is adorable!!!

Yeah that was one of the bunnies from one of Twitch's litters. Unfortunately, Twitch died recently. =(




Wow that's a lot of posts, TeaChick! lol Just from reading your posts I said to myself, "Wow Mitch, you've been through a lot in the past year with all your chickens!" Haha. I think I am starting to get grey hairs. Oh wait, I have all grey hair because I am 128 years old. Silly me.

Another update!

Egg sales!! Just sold three dozen.



Bronco is filling in nicely. He is starting to look manly!

Its hard to get a good picture off him, he is really hyper!

Marius is king of the flock.







Molting is starting. lol

This one is molting the worst right now.



The plan for the near future:
I have a general plan for this winter/spring. This winter will be pretty low key. No hatches, No new birds, and probably no selling of birds. The only thing I'm going to do is sell eggs. In the spring, it will be a different story. I'll sell most of my birds to the auction, except my Faverolles and a few Barred Rock pullets. Then I'll get new birds, but not just any birds. I'm going HERITAGE! No hatchery birds and no cross breeds. I'm thinking Wyandottes, Orpingtons, Chanteclers, or something along those lines.

Then I'll breed big time (hopefully).


This is just what I'm thinking about, not necessarily what is going to happen. Please leave comments.

We haven't had a litter that large; the one we have now is seven our first a long time ago was 6 and our most recent before this one was 2. It doesn't matter, it was just as sad to see the one go from the last litter as it was to see the four from our first and I"m not looking forward to seeing the six we're not keeping from this litter. =,(
