MKK Farms. Updates, pics, and stories!

What do you mean?

Oh, my other post about your new avi was about the last one (with the dog/pup); this one is a field, I guess it's the one that was taken six months ago.
Sorry I'm not very quick on here; I've been very busy with stuff and then I have to spend "free" time on school work, so I have to catch snippets of time to play hookie and come on here.
My life in a run-on sentence. =D

They're good. I got rid of Sandy (she was quite aggressive with the other chickens and things have been so much more peaceful around the yard since I put her in the brooder to give her to my friend). She's going to put her in with some juveniles, so that things are fair, but she'll be put in her place too. Just what Sandy needed!!!

I lost all dozen of the Leghorn eggs I set at the beginning of the month.

But I know what went wrong, so I can make adjustments now.

I locked down 8 of the 18 (mostly) Comet batch (7 Comet eggs and 1 Leghorn egg). They're running behind, but they have the entire time, so.... whadderyagonnado?
I candled last night and there was only movement in one (still hoping for the others, but not holding my breath), this afternoon I candled and saw the chick is into the air sac and heard it chirp at me, and a little while ago I went to add water and I picked it up and heard it scratching in there and when I set it back down I saw my very first external pip ever!!!!!!

Everyone else is doing well.
I think Snoodle might be laying b/c I found an egg in the nesting box that looked like a small version of Sandy's eggs, but Sandy was in the brooder. If I keep finding them (and all the other varieties of Comet eggs I've been getting), then I'll have to assume that Snoodle is laying. If she is, and she keeps going into the big hen house instead of going into the juvenile pen (temporary coop for my brood flock), then I'm going to have to coop them for a little while. I'd kind of rather wait until I'm sure that Marigold it laying too, though, b/c I don't want to do that to them twice. We'll see.
Oh, and I just got the chicks that my friend hatched for me. One is chipmunk color, he's a cockerel; the entire batch is 12 chicks, six pullets and six cockerels. I'll feather sex them again tomorrow (at three days) to confirm.
Happy Chickens, Happy Tea Chick!!!

hehehe

Thanks. It was a faulty thermometer, but I can still use it b/c it works, it's just 14* off.

I already don't have a good hatch rate, IMO; 8 out of 18 is 44% already. If this one is the only one that hatches, then it will be 5.5%...
I mean, thank you. =)
sorry
