Well. I've never gotten any before - have only 5 chickens right now. I would think a couple of hundred would do...what do you think?

If they're treats, that should last you awhile if you keep 'em in the fridge. I tend to calculate on a 10-per rule - 10 bugs per bird per treat time. If they're a food supplement, that'd be 1-2 days' worth. If you're going to grow your own, you could start with that but you wouldn't be able to feed ANY to your chickens for about 4 months to make sure you had enough beetles to start the colony.
