Not really sure where to share this but this is where it landed.
Went into town today to pick up some grain with our trusty Farm Vehicle.
I kept hearing a chirping sound while I was parked under some trees. Our Farm beater has some serious miles on it so we make it a point to check the oil regularly. While topping off the oil, the sound was getting louder. The chirping was coming from under the vehicle. After searching and searching, discovered a bird nest was built into a hole up in the wheel well.
5 freshly hatched birds were screaming for mama.

Was really nothing I could do there and they seemed to make the ride into town fine, so I drove back to the farm and unbolted the wheel well casing and removed the nest. OMG! Now I'm a wild bird nanny..
Don't know the foggiest thing about wild bird nutrition. Just know that the parents are long gone and I'm not going to just let them starve.

They are screaming hungry so I need to drench something fast. I will be back with an update shortly.

Wow Connie! I have no idea how to help. Would the parent birds not hear the cheeping and return? Could you mash up some worms or bugs and drop some in there mouths? Just a sidenote but we have a birdsnest in the post box at work. We put a note on it warning the postie not to use it!
I think they flew off freaked out when the vehicle drove off with their hatch lings. It takes awhile for them to hatch and that SUV has had some miles put on it. Bizarre encounter. I dug up some worms and smashing them up to feed them right now.
