Modified Hoop Coop Design Development

We'll have to clad over the t-posts.
Might work out pretty good if you get the tops of the posts down below the curve of roof.
Might want to think about post placement in conjunction with HC width, so HC seams don't line up with posts.

Excellent thought! Yes!

Let me ask another question. Is your vision that the panels in the arch are overlapped side-to-side, or are they attached at their edges? We currently have them overlapped on the temp hoop coop.

Edge to edge is how I did mine, but staggered a bit because of rods sticking out past edge,
I wanted it as smooth as possible for laying HC over them.

Ok. We have ours overlapping in the current temp coop, and the t-posts are going to cause wrinkles anyway, so I'm thinking we'll probably overlap and that will make the tarp fit better anyway since it's slightly smaller. We've decided to go with a 24-ft length rather than 16'. I just really felt it was going to be too small and really would rather not have to add on any time soon.

Build is next week! We got it sited and brush clearing is underway.

Do you have both 16' and 8' panels....or are you going to do some cutting of panels?
Always a challenge to line up your mesh materials by size......I try to avoid buckling/bowing the HC, less chance of anything getting a tooth inserted.

We'll cut panels. And you can't actually get 2 fully 8' panels out of a single 16' panel because once you cut you lose 1 section, but we will also be using panels on the ends to fill in the back wall and the front wall around and above the door to help maintain the strength everywhere. Given our recent experiences, it turns out that by overlapping panels and HC as well, and sealing those seams, we wind up with a very tight armor. It just doesn't look quite as perfect as it could in terms of the HC skin being flawless-- it has wiggles but I wouldn't say there was a toe- or tooth-hold anywhere. And we'll have buried HC around the perimeter.

I need to take some pics of the temp coop and post.

Another question: How many ridge/trusses per panel in the arch? The arch will consist of 6 panels (for ~24' length of coop).

@aart
I have no idea, probably going to have to go by 'feel' or 'field design' once you get started.

I'd install the first 2 wall sections, then put up a roof panel up and see how it goes........
........that's how I figured out how/where to install my 'spreader' 'trusses' to form the curve I wanted and the angle braces to 'plumb' or center that curve.
You may not need any trusses....if the ends of the roof panels are attached to the posts, it may be plenty stiff enough not to need any further bracing.

I did a regular 8x24' hoop ...6 panels .. I had both ends and the middle.. but I used 12' 2x4 for the base and just put truss at the 12'.. I ran a ridge 2x4 down the center for snow load.(which is not an issue for you LOL)
