It just happens...Some of mine are responded to and then some not at all. One time I just kept bumping one hoping someone would respond. Finally got 2 responses... Then I've have a few pages worth of responses on others.
I read a lot of the posts but a lot of times I just don't know what to say or how to respond so I just don't say anything.

I sometimes have the same problem. I have been around for awhile but do not always have an answer to give. I kinda hang in the background. When I have a question or can help I do put my two cents in. I can alos only get on at odd times due to taking care of all the animals, kids and house Its the same for most people on here Its just the luck of the draw. Stay around its fun. look at the alternative watching the boob tube.

I can see all of us are like ants in the playground. All coming and going! How interesting!

Alot of us can not respond to every post or read every post. I sure dont! Even when I was new, it took a while and just go along with the flow!

I'm not posting as much as I did over the summer. I work for a university and the students are back... meaning that I post less on BYC.

I'm pretty new too, and I use this board for serious study of my subject (yes, chickens), as well as for a shot of humor whenever I need it (yes, ok, that's pretty often).

I work on my PC allll day and my eyes get tired of looking at text pages, so I keep BYC up most of the time and take lots of breaks.

I recommend that you make a pledge to yourself of ANSWERING 3 to 5 posts per day, and soon you will be swinging away with the best!!

Don't give up,,,,hang in there,,,we all have this problem here. We must remember we are the 'newbies",,,and must make new friends. But we will!!!! (I now have a few friends,,,but it took me awhile).
