I got 12 already laying chickens that are I think about 11 mo to a year now, and they had been with a roo before I got them so they are missing feathers etc. I've had them for two months. I did change their food a month ago, and the egg numbers were stabilizing pretty well between 7-9 eggs a day. Their production has dropped off rather dramatically the past 1-2 weeks, running 3-5 eggs a day though they are eating quite a bit and looking healthy. It's also July, so we have been running in the upper 80's high humidity.
I can't tell if it's the heat slowing them down or if they are about to molt or what. Suggestions to try that could tell me if something's off in say, the diet? They're fed soaked red wheat, oats, split peas, millet, boss, and fertrell pre-mix. They get various greens most days, like chard, or turnip leaves, a bit of salmon the other day... They seem healthy and active, though they haven't regrown their feathers much.
