DH and I love a good fruitcake. We had a neighbor who experimented and soaked them in brandy, whiskey, etc. So good!! Fruitcakes don't deserve all those bad jokes, IMHO!!

Starting to make some fuitcake tonight for those that like it. I have some family that does but I can send some to a few on here if they really like it and promise they won't waste it. It is not cheap stuff and very time consuming. Pm me if you are interested.

Here is the dark fruit cake being started...the fruit, coconut, nuts soaking in rum/brandy and OJ.

OMG! To die for....it's candied fruit. I was shocked to the core when I got older and realized not everyone liked fruitcake. What's not to like.

Thank you, they are are candied cherries. I think they kinda taste like maraschino cherries.

For me I think it is the molasses but not sure on that cause I have a keebler soft batch copy cat recipe for chocolate chip cookies and it calls for molasses same amount I think and I love those.
