Hi theoldchick. How is Steele doing in this wacky winter weather, and have you noticed if he has choosen any favorite hens yet from his flock, or does he seem to just like them all ?

Hi theoldchick. How is Steele doing in this wacky winter weather, and have you noticed if he has choosen any favorite hens yet from his flock, or does he seem to just like them all ?

He's doing great. He's a majestic leader who meanders among the girls, and doesn't seem to have any favorites. He's not a big crower, though. He crows in the morning and that is about it. He's a talker, though. He's always chatting to himself and watching the sky. No human aggression what-so-ever. He has to learn to stop the girls from grabbing his comb and wattles. He puts his head down to show them food and they'll grab him, too.

My DH called me a moron last night!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was running around trying to get stuff together and fussing about them already.

He did look over at me from the couch and laugh though. I think he is feeling like I am going to ignore him, dinner, and the house work for the next 8 weeks. HOW does he know that???? oh yea, past experience.

I am starting to hit that expectant new parent stage of fear now. "am I ready? did I do the right thing? can I raise them right? can I provide for them ok? will they grow up to be successful little girls in their future? will they be healthy?"

I think I'm suffering from empty nest syndrome right now. My baby, Frou-frou, started laying and she doesn't need me anymore.

oh we are so bad... really! Pipd, i will go out and take some pictures of my other girls and 'Bird for you tonight just to keep your mind off of the empty nest. That reminds me, I better get the camera charged up already too.
Poor frou-frou. just wanting to grow up and her momma not wanting her to.

I love the name frou-frou- that made me laugh. Remember, i will have 5 that need named yet.
Little Farmer, just come over and take care of my new babies while I am at work!!!!! you can be their Nanny.

It's a very fitting name, too. She's my big baby, my Big Fuzzy.

You should have an Eleanor. I was going to have an Eleanor this year, but I decided instead to name these babies all in Maori. Also, an Audrey. My brother keeps bugging me for an Audrey, but I haven't felt it yet for any of my birds. You could call them Elle and Aud.
