Momma silkie wont accept babies

the 3 buffs that i got from our local feed store have a red dye on their heads? and because of this she will not accept them,i have tried everything to shaving it off,to using a little black makeup to cover it.i have been keeping them in my room in a brooder.how long will it take for the dye to disappear?

Did you try slipping them under her at night? I have never had a broody so maybe someone will come along to help you. Good luck.

That's not the reason why she won't accept them. She may know they are not hers, or maybe she's not broody, or maybe she's like my silkie, Gwen... who tries to killer babies because she thinks they are trying to kill her babies.

she has accepted the others from the hatchery ,the blues and blacks,but not the buffs,and she does have a white silkie chick in with her too.
