Montana

I don't know if I could have eaten the egg if I was making sunny side up, but mixing it in the pancake mix I couldn't really tell it was green. It is rather funny tho.
This is my Gold Duck Wing EE

Clint is my head roo, he is smaller than the huge Maran roos, but sure can put them in their place when they get out of line. One of my Black Copper  Maran roos was giving me the "nasty rooster" eye today, I puffed myself up and followed him all around the coop untill he turned tail and ran, but he may have to go to freezer camp if he keeps that up, I won't have a nasty roo.
Its been snowing all day here, but temps have been nice so I've only got about an inch or so on the ground. I hope roads don't get bad over night, I have to leave for work by 5:30 am, and I hate slippery roads.
that is a beautiful boy! Wish I could have a rooster, I have had to give up some amazing looking roosters. No snow here, but noticed we are being salted real bad with chem trails for the last two days, hoping we get snow soon, we need the water this spring. Fires were so bad. Wanting the old days when it snowed all the time! ,

9gerianMile I see you are looking to trade some eggs, I would send you some of mine if you would like, this is too early for me to start hatching, but I would take some of yours in the spring. In my layer flock my roos are Blue and Black Copper Marans, Black Ameraucana, and a very pretty Gold Duck Wing EE. My hens, Blue &Black Copper, and Cuckoo & Golden Cuckoo and Wheaten Marans, Blue, Black & White Ameraucans, Buff, Blue, Black & Lav. Orps, RIR, SL & BLRW, and a few EE and OE. Let me know if you are interested
Sure I'd be interested!! I'll PM you :)

This entire thread pretty much solidifies my opinion regarding most people from Montana versus most people I've met from everywhere else I've been, and I've lived in a lot of places (14 states and 30 cities to be exact). One thing I've learned since the day I moved away from MT is that it is literally the "last best place on earth" with regard to a lot of things, including how people talk to and treat each other. All my life, from birth to late 20s I hated living in Montana. It was small, it was cold and it was boring. Just about the only entertainment was hanging out in the local bar singing Karaoke, or cow tipping...that was pretty much it until the state fair came into town once a year; Great Falls was THE hotspot at that time.

...now that I've passed mid 30s I'm painfully reminded every single day that there will never...ever...be a place as amazing, beautiful, serene and full of wonderful people as Montana (apart from Heaven perhaps), and I can't wait until hubby hits retirement so we can get the heck out of here and get back to where things matter...Montana. Living anywhere other than MT has only taught me one thing...callousness, and I don't think I like being that way. I've been back to MT several times in the last 15+ years and every time I'm there my entire demeanor goes from bitter to warm in 0 to 60.

(I just wanted to crash the thread and say that)

Aw :) Hope you can move back to MT soon, CluckyCharms! DH and I are from big cities and moved here from Phoenix in 2010. We love it here. It really is the last best place.

Azriel, looking forward to those eggs, your Duckwing boy is gorgeous!

Karla, we got hammered with chemtrails when all that smoke filled our valleys from the big fire in Idaho around September. The only time my son (and the rest of us) got sick >.<

Sweetie I thought the same thing, moved to Wyoming 20 years ago, then after a few years I left to come back as I filed for divorce. I did not want to come back to Montana, I wanted to live some where exciting, with theme parks ocean fun fun ! But I ended up vacationing every year to nice places, but still had to live in Montana because I became a care giver to mom dad and nephew. 18 years later and I am soo soo glad I'm here . With whats going on in the world I'm glad to be back in small town America and Montana is just that! Safe and happy. Went t o Boston, nope very rude folks, went to cape cod nope , went to la, nope went to San Diego nope, Anaheim, nope nope to every where ! My home is cold, hard to grow stuff in butte, no fun theme parks, not much of anything but it's quiet, it's clean it's wide open and it's safe! I hope you can come home ! Soon !

Boy do we hear all of you. It really is the last best place. Those of us who have lived other places all feel the same way. We sure are glad to be retired at last and enjoying being home. The people are good and the scenery is beautiful and peaceful.

CluckyCharms you are welcome to crash our thread anytime.
It was funny when I told my family I was moving out here (from MN) they were horrified, they thought transportation was still by horse and buggy, one said,"but you won't be able to go to the opera". to which I had to laugh and say I never went to the opera before, why would I care if they didn't have it here. This is so much more home than MN ever was.

Looking for a real good home for my boy here who is 12 weeks old. These were taken a few weeks ago, he has changed so much. His head is black, and he has black feathers coming out of his tail . https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/716816/ee-chicks-3-weeks-old-pictures/10#post_9958465. He does not crow yet, but I need to find him a hme so when he does I can have a place where he can spend his life at. I will post more pics maybe tomorrow. He is an Easter egger I raised from an egg.

Karla, can't you have Roos where you live? I think that is so dumb, they only crow in the daytime unlike dogs who bark all night when left outside as to many people do. I like the sound of a roo crowing. I wish I could help you find him a home, but I have more roos than I need right now myself. I butchered 6 last Wed, and still have at least 10 more to do.
Kind of cold and windy here today, and its spitting little snowballs I uasually have a good view of the Snowys out my deck window to the NW, but they are all covered with dark black clouds, looks like a good storm and lots of snow on the way.

Hi everyone, I just rejoined after having moved from Alabama, 3 yrs ago. I am in Billings too and right now have 4 bantam hens...so my special 'hello' to my Billings chicken admirers!!
