Good luck Karlamaria! Had our first predator attack today! The chickens were free ranging about 7:00 PM and we heard quite a ruckus outside and looked out and the neighbor's boxer dog was attacking a BO hen - feathers were flying. Our new rooster did not do anything, but the whole flock was making all the noise they could. I yelled at the dog to go home, and he did, and the BO hen walked toward the run. We went down to check on her and could not find her, after a 20 minute search we found her hunkered down in tall grass in a ditch just off my lot, afraid for her life. Picked her up and found no broken bones or blood, and she could still walk, so I carried her to the coop and put her inside. Hope she doesn't have severe internal injuries. No doubt, if she survives, she probably won't be laying eggs for awhile. She was wearing an apron, which might have helped her. Called and left a message with the neighbor to please keep his dog tied up in the afternoons. No response yet.
