Now to some this may seem silly but to me it was a monumental moment.

So I went down to do laundry and decided while down there I would clean their brooder and play with them a bit. I get the brooder cleaned out and lay new bedding down and when I sit up in my chair to get something up flies this little rooster. I thought well okay then, so I picked him up off my lap and snuggled him and he just melted in my arms... not a squack nor a squirm. I then set him back on my lap where he happily sits there looking around and then began cleaning himself. I of course was all smiles. Then one of the little hens tried to fly up but she couldnt quite make, sliding down my leg, so of course I helped her to her destination. She did the same thing he was doing preening and looking around and she loved to snuggle as well. They were ever so content just sitting there... I think they would have sat there all darn day if I had let them. The other 2 hens and 1 rooster are not near this friendly... ohh they are friendly just put up a bit of a fuss and squack when i pick them up or touch them LOL

I was not sure which rooster we would keep but as of today I believe I have it all figured out. The other one is the fancier of the two since he has a feather on each foot but I think I would rather have a sweet people loveing personality over extra feathers any day.

I imagine the fact I am always bringing them treats from the garden or left over fresh fruit helps them love me even more.. LOL
Fresh tops off the corn with huge corn worms in them = very happy chicky babies.

I have to admit these guys are the pretiest chickens I have ever seen (not that I see a lot of chickens mind you) They all have the prettiest grey/silver feathers except for one little black one and his black feathers look wet they are so shiney. :)

Ohh and did you know they make chicken diapers? I was looking at a book at TSC and saw them in it. I showed my husband and I got a quick and stern "NO" all I could do was laugh. Like I would buy chicken diapers... pfft .... I am much to frugle for that... I would just make them myself.... BAHAHAHAHAAHAA

Awwww that's so sweet!! It just melts my heart when I have babies that aren't afraid of me and will snuggle! :)
I totally saw those chicken diapers awhile back and thought it was the cutest thing! I, too, showed my hubby, who had the same reaction as yours! If it were up to me, I would have a chicken (or two) in the house with diapers. I imagine them snuggling me in bed at night, lol, oh well, it's a fun thought!

I know.. men are no fun are they.. LOL

I did TELL him that if we get temps like we have had the past week or so (110 heat index) that since we only have 5 that I WILL be bringing them inside. I have a big dog pen about 10X10, for my little dogs to go in during the winter and it is too cold to be outside for long. I figured I would bring them in and put them down there.

Not sure he would be thrilled with it.. especially when one of them is a rooster.. LOL but we must do what we have to for our animals. If I had a big enough house I would bring the horses in too LOL
