Thanks! Today Fancy, and Penguin (the blue wyandotte) both laid! We kept putting off making a nest box, and Fancy dug herself a nest under the hanging feeder. Today we put in a nest box, and the EE scouted it out and sang a short version of the egg song before rejoining the rest of the flock downstairs. I'm hoping we'll have a pretty blue egg from her soon!

Along the lines of squat talk....here is something that only you guys can appreciated...

My Mom hates the cold. She won't go outside unless she absolutely has to. I have been bringing one of my 4 month old bantams every day for her to pet for a minute...she was scratching the wyandottes back and she was raising her but in the air....my Mom was commenting on how much she liked it...I didn't have the heart to tell her that the chicken probably thought she was mating with her...

.I just imagine why the chickens try to get away from me.... "darn, the big giant treat monster took me into the weird coop and had the giant rooster mate with me....has that ever happened to you?"
