MORE CHICKS!!!!! eeks...

Yeah I was pretty content with the idea of two...maybe sneak'n in a third...but I couldn't figure out how to do the 3rd when I couldn't get it last week (too big of a difference in age from my current chicks now) so I sort of gave up...NOW with the passive GO AHEAD SIGNAL my hubby is giving, I'm eager to fill those boxes...LOL

Be prepared to do alot of broody breaking with that cute little silkie! Either that or be prepared to buy lots of fertile eggs for her to hatch so you can have lots more chickens.

That is what I tried to tell my hubby, but he felt each girl deserved her own...he does not mean I have the go ahead to get 20 chicks.

Silkie ~ Broody comment...really...are they broody? I don't want that...soooo good to know...I might have to do some more research and see what's out there that I can get my hands on...

I might have to make a trip up to Chico to see if I can get tfpets to part with a frizzle or two of different colors...LOL (do frizzles get broody?)

thank you for that...I was looking for something on those lines and had not found it...THANK YOU...

and thanks for fueling my new found addiction!

from that chart it looks like I have two broody girls anyhow...

Maybe they will sit on their eggs until rotten...LOL...

seriously if there isn't a rooster and they lay eggs, won't they get up if I push them out of their box? or just reach under them and take the egg?

What would happen???

I'm leaning towards a silkie & a frizzle...LOL...and then that would be IT!

They can't have babies without a male...right? They aren't magic chickens are they? I'm just going to have to pick them up and kick them off their eggs...and probably going to have to wear thick gloves to do so...hmmmm

my friendly girls better let me get those eggs, or I'll have to send my dog into the coop! LOL

Nope it doesn't work like that. A serious broody will sit on nothing. She won't eat all that much or get out of the nest except maybe once a day, losing weight in the meantime. You can do a search here on BYC, keywords 'breaking broody' and see what I mean.
