Be prepared to do alot of broody breaking with that cute little silkie! Either that or be prepared to buy lots of fertile eggs for her to hatch so you can have lots more chickens.

Don't you only need a nest box for every 4-5 hens? That means you have enough for 16-20 hens!

Silkie ~ Broody comment...really...are they broody? I don't want that...soooo good to know...I might have to do some more research and see what's out there that I can get my hands on...

I might have to make a trip up to Chico to see if I can get tfpets to part with a frizzle or two of different colors...LOL (do frizzles get broody?)

from that chart it looks like I have two broody girls anyhow...

Maybe they will sit on their eggs until rotten...LOL...

seriously if there isn't a rooster and they lay eggs, won't they get up if I push them out of their box? or just reach under them and take the egg?

What would happen???

I'm leaning towards a silkie & a frizzle...LOL...and then that would be IT!
