Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.

I had a coyote jump the 6 foor fence around my coop. I raised it to 8 foot and havent had any trouble since. Look on the internet for 'coyote rollers' (google). They are pricy but worked at keeping my sons dog from jumping the fence.
