You can get LA200 at most feed stores or Tractor Supply. The smallest bottle (100 ml) is right under $20. Don't forget to buy syringes/needles. It does not need to be refrigerated (yay) which is helpful. Considering you would give 1/2 cc (or 1/2 ml) a couple times per bird, that bottle is enough to treat 200 times. In other words, you won't run out.

We do give our birds yogurt, in fact we always have plenty of it in our fridge.

Okay so since LA 200 is basically an antibiotic, should I stop giving Fawn the Duramycin?? I also had a question about ACV. After the outside girls finish their round of Duramycin, I was thinking I should put some ACV in their waterer. How much do you put in?

LA200 is an antibiotic so I would not give them together......finish up the duramycin and then do the LA200 or if there is no improvement and you do not want to wait, pull the "sick bird" and use LA200 with non-duramycin drinking water.

I don't know anything about ACV so can't help you there.

I had never used injectibles on birds before and wouldn't recommend it lightly..........but would not hesitate to use it again if I had a sick bird pop up that I wanted to save. I know these are your pets and you want to get them healthy again.

You know how it is.........when you are sick as a dog, nothing gets it under control as quickly as a nice big shot of antibiotics.

Update- Let the chickens out this morning and found Quail with bubbly eyes. I'm a little bit panicked right now because number one, I have literally run out of space. I still have Moxie and Sunshine inside because I don't know if they are still sick or not. Fawn is in, because of the bubbly eye, and now so is Quail. Fawn and Quail are together, since they both have a bubbly eye, in a large fish tank. I know that that is too small, but it is the only place I had left. ( I would have PREFERRED everyone have a separate space, in case it isn't the same thing..)

How long should I keep the chickens on Duramycin? One week or two? As of today it has been a week.

Also, should I not give the LA 200? From what I've read a bubbly eye is not a good thing at all.

If I give it, should I give to ALL of the birds, even the ones not showing a bubbly eye? Or should I give it to just the ones that have had a bubbly eye(s)?

Sorry for so many questions, but thank you for helping me.

ETA- Should I flush their eyes with Saline?

Bubbly eyes can be a symptom of all sorts of things. Here is the problem (which I was told recently when I had it come up in my quarantined swap birds). Treating a bird's symptoms may clear them up but the bird may then be a carrier for that disease in the future, even though they are asymptomatic. Which appears to be the issue with your rooster.........he had no symptoms of illness but still infected your flock.

Your birds seem to be pets so if I were you I would treat them for the illnesses and just close your flock.

I have no experience with duramycin, so cannot tell you what to do there........if I was treating my own flock and had birds isolated, I would go ahead and start off just treating the sick bird(s). If that works, great. If the illness pops up in other birds, treat them as you see them. As it seems to be running through the flock, I maybe would go ahead and treat everyone at once just to try to knock it out once and for all. But its up to you....

No new sick birds...

Went to our feed store today and bought a bottle of Liquamycin LA-200 (100 ml) for nearly $30...

I'm really hoping that this works.

I fed Fawn, Moxie, and Sunshine HUGE gobs of yogurt this morning. (Before I'd went out to the outside chickens..) Fawn literally downed hers. She ate every last drop. Sunny ate some but covered the rest of it with pine shavings..

Moxie was more interested in trying to bust down the door to her dog kennel to fly up on my head. (It didn't work.) Moxie has made a great improvement... I wonder if whatever it was ran its course and she survived through it. (Yes I know she is probably a carrier now....)

The chickens outside are fine, although quite a bit, OVER HALF!, of the girls are molting, so NO eggs. (The younger girls haven't started laying yet, as far as I know..)
Housing arrangements are complicated. Mox and Sun are in dog crates. (separate) Quail is in a fish tank, and Fawn is in an old bird cage...

I have questions though: (sorry) You probably want to

me...

1. When should I give it to the birds? (tomorrow, day after, etc.)
2. How many days should I give it them?
3. Since my chickens are pets, do you think it would be best to inject all of them, including the rooster (who is most likely the original carrier

)? (Even if they don't have signs?) Obviously we are closing our flock..
4. 1/2 cc is how much I inject?
5. How many days do I continue the injections for?
6. How many injections per day do I give?
7. Where exactly do I inject it?
8. How far in should the needle go in?AND last one....
9. How slow should I go when pushing the actual medicine in? (not the needle)

I want to thank everyone for helping me so much, it really means a lot to me (and our whole family. Even my little brother who isn't even 2yrs old loves to watch our chickens run around and be playful) They are definetely a pet flock, and we spend quite a bit of time on them. (Be it feeding them treats, giving them love, cleaning their equipment and coop, stressing over illnesses, you get the idea..) I also want to say that I'm sorry for so many questions, I just want to make sure we do everything right. Again, thank you, I really appreciate it.
