I get that they're highly educated and trained experts running a business, but holy moly.

I don't think I could give up my chickens again . They bring me such joy . I did for 11 years after a dogs killed my chickens, turkeys, and quail and rabbits . I was heartbroken and couldn't take another animal death.Oh gosh! That's awful about your hen and the miracle babies! I am so incredibly sorry!
I think I am done with chickens. What I mean is that I won't be adding any more. I will do my best to give these 25 (19 chickens and 6 ducks) the best life I can give them, but once they pass, I will not get any more. I am overwhelmed right now. It's a full time job caring for them with all the problems I'm seeing. I am at my limit.
I am so sorry! What a terrible thing to have happen!I don't think I could give up my chickens again . They bring me such joy . I did for 11 years after a dogs killed my chickens, turkeys, and quail and rabbits . I was heartbroken and couldn't take another animal death.
For now, yes. She is feeling better now that the vet drained her abdomen. Luckily, there was no infection present, so there's at least a chance she can recover. Pain meds and antibiotics 2x a day for almost 3 weeks. How's your flock today. Is your duck hen doing any better
Sometime birds just get sick or pass . That is something I have had to learn . It hurts me every time to lose a bird(s) . I think though it's part of raising animals . You will eventually lose some . It's hard when nothing is working and you feel like you're failingI am so sorry! What a terrible thing to have happen!
I love my birds - don't get me wrong. But I am not sure I'm giving them a good life considering all the illnesses I've encountered this season. I MUST be doing something wrong. Maybe my run is not clean enough. But it's a huge run, and I'm not entirely sure how much cleaner I can make it. I spot clean, clean roosts and nest boxes daily. Fresh food and water every day. A thorough cleaning 1x or 2x a week. Good, fresh food. Limited treats. Regular health checks. Idk. I'll do my best by my beautiful birds, but I won't add any new birds.

I am hoping and praying this is the last problem for a while.....
