The harlequin carry the merle gene. But there can be issues with merles, especially if they get the double-merle gene which is pretty much fatal. I would NEVER breed a merle Dane...there are too many things that could go wrong. Blue harlequin is random...a throwback I guess. I don't know how you would breed to get just Blue Harlequins. But since I have a Blue female and a male Harlequin, if we were to ever breed them again(which I doubt), we would hopefully end up with more blue harlequins!!!!
