You knew it was bound to happen and I'm honestly surprised a thread doesn't already exist, so...let's talk about these Mosaics from Gold Feather Farms!

I realize many of you think they're a fad, and that's okay. I, personally, think that the chickens are gorgeous and I'm excited to have them in my flock! Anyone else? I got fortunate and won my six in a FB chicken raffle so maybe I'm in a different position for not being out a ton of money if they aren't what I expect, but so far, they're fabulous eye candy and some of the most beautiful chicks I've seen.

Jury is still out on these kids vs boys or girls but I do kinda suspect that I'm looking at 4 boys out of 6 chicks. It's still early though (I think they're about 3 weeks old now) and fortunately I have a nearby friend who picked some up too, so we may trade a bit, if need be.

So sorry for the delay, you guys!

The only one with eggs right now is the breeder - Gold Feather Farms. Some of his January egg sales may be coming into lay soon, but I haven't seen anyone sharing their birds/eggs yet so it may not be until Fall. I imagine they'll want to do their own test hatches first.

I'm not sure if this link will work, but this is his FB post about the birds at their release to the public this year. They are gorgeous. Some have made claims that the images are over-processed, but from what I've seen from the chicks so far, I don't think they'll be that far off.

They are gorgeous birds, but yeah... all the photos on GFF page are over saturated. I saw these posted somewhere a while back and was drawn to their uniqueness. I seriously wondered if they use a fibromelanistic bird in the breeding. They kind of remind me of Hmong Chickens.

Yes, I can see the Hmong influence! He also has brakels and I'm kinda thinking they may have had an influence as well.

Here are some pics from yesterday. These guys are SO weird. When I go in their pen during the day, they run from me like I'm going to eat them! But, when I come in at night to tuck them in, they come RUNNING TO ME and cheeping their fool heads off like they are SO glad to see me and they perch on my arms and try to get under my hands and they let me pet them as I'm trying to get them under their heat plate in their straw bale cave. It's the weirdest thing...I may have to drag my husband out there with me to video their antics because...it's just absurd to me

They're stunning! I hadn't heard of them before, now I have a new breed to drool over. Please keep us updated!
