Mosin-Nagant

If it's not a round you reloaded yourself or a factory loaded box of ammo (Federal/Winchester, etc) you can bet it's corrosive. If it's a steel case round that looks a bit copper in color it's military surplus and corrosive. Best just too assume it is, since 99% of the 7.62 x 54r out there is.

Okay, thanks.

Photos of the gun will be uploaded soon.

Oh, and Em? 7.62X54 bullets don't care if you have brownies or not. *Evil*

That's funny, 'cause this Mosin didn't have a bayonet! Any idea what rifle the WWI bayonet was from?

For deer hunting I use a 30-30 or a 30-06 when I' not bow hunting. I don't have any older guns, but I have a Romanian bayonet. Thekid, here is the best 22 I've shot in a long time... http://www.maurlinfirearms.com/Firearms/SelfLoading/795.asp I love mine, I've never had it jam when I shoot good ammo. The Federals jam every now and then, but the Winchesters, Hornadys, and Remingtons shoot like a charm. For deer hunting with the 30-30 I use these. http://www.hornady.com/store/leverevolution If you need a recoil pad this is the best one I've found. http://www.limbsaver.com/firearms/38-39-40.php

I WONDERED when this plan would be put into action. Now, where's the popcorn?

I think Em is scared of you now. Not that we weren't all terrified before.

Scared? Of me? No way. What's to be afraid of...?

My Mosin is a 1943 vintage. Eastern front gun. Most likely the only firearm that I own that may have killed someone.

C&R licenses are great for collecting these vintages of firearms. I've been wanting to get a German 8mm mauser made the same year as my Mosin.

Go to the range and put 40 rounds through it sometime. Normal surplus rounds make it an unpleasant experience.

Just a warning - the 8mm Mauser kicks enough to make ME sore, and recoil doesn't bother me as much as other people. Had a chance to shoot a friend's once. My shoulder was sore for a few days afterwards.

Sadly, we were only able to find ONE 20 round box of Mosin ammo for sale. Nobody has it! It's also more expensive than I thought it was.

Ten bucks for a 20-round box of Russian surplus? Yikes.
