I live in a subdivision on the coast, and the mosquitoes this year are the size of jet liners!!! What can I spray my yard with that is safe for my 7 chickens but strong enough to KILL those darn skeeters??? I don't have any standing water anywhere in my yard, and my chickens are let out of their "Taj Ma Coop" in the late afternoon to run the backyard- but even THEY can't help with the over population of the mosquitoes.
I do have some Cutter Backyard spray- but don't want to hurt my girls (we are still waiting on their first eggs).

PLEASE HELP- I am at my wits end!

Bifenthin is the best product. But is isn't legal to use it in CA and few other East coast states I think, so check first.

Do your own research, but I thought I read that it was approved by the USDA for use in chicken coops. (I think it is also approved for some food crops too). It has to dry to be safe though. You don't need to actually spray the coop, but spray your grass and under all your bushes, wherever there is shade. It will keep the Mosquitos under control for a couple months. It does kill every other bug too though, so you shouldn't spray any flowers that would kill bees. It's poisonous to cats while it is wet, but not once dry. Do not spray within ten feet of a waterway because it is poisonous to fish. I think that covers it, but do your own research and read the instructions. I don't let my chickens free range for two days after applying.

It sucks to use chemicals, but Mosquitos can spread serious disease and by comparison this might be safer. It depends on how bad your Mosquitos are.

I will do, thanks.
Yes, I am very worried about the diseases mosquitoes spread. I am in Texas, and we have had a VERY wet Spring. I am anticipating hurricane season to be wet as well..........
Thanks again!
