Most friendly breed of duck??

My Welsh Harlequins are very quiet and lay lots of eggs. They're not super-friendly, but that's my fault for not socializing them enough when they were small.

The most friendly birds I have far and away are my Mini Appleyards. They are extremely outgoing birds. I also have a number of very calm Runners as well that seem to like human attention. In the past, my Anconas and Dutch Hookbill were also quite tame and friendly. Several other breeds I have had were a little less friendly, but not much. It just depends on a number of factors like how many are raised together and the bird's genetics. I have said forever that I think temperament is somewhat of an inherited trait. I just happened to find an article by Lou Horton where he says the same thing too! I haven't seen a lot of other people mention that, but I'm sure others must have thought it too. For example, Runners are known for being high strung and skittish, but all of mine that came from Holderread's are extremely calm and friendly. It has to be something in their genes.

This is quite an open ended question...

I was at a duck farm at the weekend and all the ducks ran away from humans...all 3 trillion breeds that they had on the farm. I am assuming this is because they didn't have much direct human contact.
Almost any animal, from a duck to a tiger, can bond with humans...ok, there are exceptions, jellyfish for example

I have a white campbell who loves human attention...she runs after me and snuffles my feet to be stroked. She's also trained with over 10 commands.
She's like this because she was handled constantly and spoilt.

I know this isn't ducks, but I have trained wild rats, squirrels and birds to come on command any time of the day and trust me enough to take food from my hand and sit there while I have a cuppa.
I think it's all about how much effort you're willing to put in.

Ok, some ducks start off slightly friendlier/bolder, but I believe they can all be trained to the same level.

I'm trying to find some to but I find that calls are easy to handle. Magpies are really calm and are really quiet. My female is a grey magpie and she is nice and small, kinda slow, and always lays a egg if the right conditions.

Calls are VERY snuggly ducks! They can be energetic, but they're just the cutest, tiniest things ever. And their small size is quite handy. But I'm not partial or anything. Honest. :p
