For something a bit different our pretty Button Quail girls, an Ivory called Pearl, and a Caramel called Madison. They are 3 months old and are our daughter's birds.

First time I've seen someone else's button quail! I've had two pair for a couple of years, two wild type, a white, and a silver. The silver is particularly nice with subtle pink shading on his underside. Looks like I will have to take pics!

This one is still unsure about humans. I just talk softly to him/her. I feed wild game bird feed and he/dhe loves it. I call it Tamu. Any advice you have would be appreciated.

One day I was out by the coop and found a small bird. I first thought it was a dove, but a bird expert friend of mine said it was a Texas A&M Quail. He/she is in my chick brooder now. I think he/she needs a friend, but don't know where to find one.

Texas A&M are Japanese (Coturnix) quail bred for size. It should get along with other coturnix, standard or jumbo. You can vent sex them, the males have a bump like a pimple at the edge of the vent, if you press gently above the vent they release a foamy substance. If it's male you'd either need to put him with several hens or keep him on his own. They will overbreed a single hen or another male. Hens lay nice little eggs which are edible, I had a quail omelet for dinner tonight.

Thanks for the info. I've had chickens for many years, but this is my first quail. I was told they can't live in the wild. Is this true?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
Here's Divine, he's a frizzle sizzle Showgirl. He's only 12 weeks old so I'm not 100% sure of the sex yet.
Spoiled rotten, he lives indoors and is sitting on my shoulder right now, watching TV and purring. He cries like a puppy and sticks his head out of his cage if I don't take him out in the evenings.
